Solution Brief

The VRH composite multi-unit heat pipe natural cold air conditioning system offers flexible terminal configurations, including heat pipe backplates, inter-row heat pipes, and room-level heat pipes. It's suitable for refrigeration applications demanding high temperature control accuracy, high sensible heat requirements, and high energy efficiency, especially in high-density equipment environments such as data centers, cloud computing centers, medium and large switch rooms, mobile machine rooms, and energy storage industries.

This solution integrates heat pipe technology, multi-unit fluoropump technology, and traditional mechanical refrigeration technology, overcoming the limitations of traditional power heat pipe air conditioning systems where the cold source and heat exchange host are separated. By integrating natural cold source coils, it achieves efficient utilization of natural cold sources. The system uses an intermediate heat exchanger to create two independent refrigeration cycles, supporting three operating modes: the compressor is in the primary side, the fluoropump is in the secondary side, and the two refrigeration cycles are independent of each other. The secondary side can directly utilize the natural cold source, with mechanical refrigeration supplementing when the cooling capacity is insufficient. This effectively addresses the coordination issue between the main and backup cold sources. Furthermore, the introduction of the fluoropump overcomes the limitations of gravity heat pipe backplates in terms of installation distance and height difference, further enhancing the system's flexibility and applicability.

The VRH heat pipe multi-unit waterless system can adopt various configurations.

▪ One outdoor VRH refrigeration host unit with multiple indoor terminal units;

▪ The outdoor VRH host unit uses an N+1 backup configuration: Multiple multi-unit fluoropump heat pipe host units are used in parallel outdoors, and single-coil heat pipe terminals are used indoors;

▪ Both indoor and outdoor units use backup configurations: Multi-unit fluoropump heat pipe host units are used outdoors, which can be used in a primary/backup configuration, and the indoor heat pipe terminals use double-coil heat exchangers.

Key Parameters

Cooling capacity 80-360kW, compressor mode COP 3.5, natural cold source mode COP 22

Applicable Scenarios

Suitable for refrigeration applications requiring high temperature control accuracy, high sensible heat requirements, and high energy efficiency, especially in high-density cabinet environments such as data centers, cloud computing centers, medium and large-scale switch rooms, mobile data centers, and energy storage industries.

Advantageous Features

▪ Waterless design: Utilizing phase-change heat transfer with power heat pipes to leverage natural cold sources without introducing water or fresh air into the machine room;

▪ Convenient backup: System backup can be achieved through the parallel use of multiple hosts or by using a dual-coil end, overcoming the drawbacks of traditional air-cooled air conditioners' one-to-one, single-loop design, and lack of backup;

▪ Energy-efficient and high-efficiency: In summer, it can be combined with atomization spray technology to reduce condensing pressure and improve compressor operating conditions, increasing energy efficiency by more than 10% compared to dry conditions;

▪ Flexible and diverse terminal ends: The terminal end can be equipped with various heat pipe terminal forms, such as heat pipe backplanes, inter-row heat pipes, and room-level heat pipes, enabling closer proximity to the heat source for cooling and higher heat exchange efficiency;

▪ Intelligent control: Both indoor and outdoor units can achieve multi-link applications, offering flexible deployment and intelligent control technology for active optimization and seamless switching between different modes.
